Our Studios | Our Founder | Our School Enrichment Program
KidsArt takes a very classical approach to teaching drawing and painting.
What this means is that instruction coupled with practice, practice, practice
will bring about an independent and confident artist. This is not unlike
the apprentice system used in the days of the Renaissance. Students worked
for master painters for years before they ever became "masters" themselves.
We show the student how to draw and paint, step-by-step, over and over, using
different subject matter and different media. We guide each student every
step of the way until little by little that student can draw alone without frustration.
Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Classes
KidsArt teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced fine art drawing and
painting techniques to children from ages 4-12, teens, and adults. Students
are taught individually and work from their own program, taking into account
personal interests and special needs. Classes are held year-round.
Mommy/Daddy & Me
Starting at age 3, some KidsArt studios offer classes for 3-4 year olds to take
with a parent. Parents are taught how to help their young child learn to draw.
This class is a joint class for both child and parent. Ask about this program
by clicking on Contact, and calling your local KidsArt studio.
Home School Classes
KidsArt will work with home school groups within or outside our regular studio
class times. Groups may come to our studios to be instructed in drawing,
painting, clay sculpture, cartooning, animation, figure drawing, portraiture and
more. To receive more information or set up a class time that fits into your home
schooling needs, click here and call your local
KidsArt studio.
Workshops
Specialized workshops are also available. These may include Clay Sculpture,
Cartooning, Animation, Figure Drawing & Portraiture, Printmaking and more.

Parents & Grandparents
Parents and grandparents are welcome to join their child/grandchild in the
same class. Since we teach students individually, adults can work on their
own program in the same class as a child. Children who see their adult
role models appreciating and participating in broadening their artistic
knowledge and abilities, gain valuable lessons beyond art instruction. This
is a wonderful way to spend quality time with family members, and learn
at the same time!
My Child Couldn't Have Done That!
Parents have said to us that it is not possible that their child is doing the work
herself. The teacher must have done most of it, they insist! The teachers
at KidsArt do not touch the work more than 10%-15%, and when they do it
is for instructional purposes. So, how does your child's work look so fantastic,
particularly when he can't do the same thing at home alone? Because it is
no different than baking a cake with help or writing an essay for English class.
With the teacher's guidance, it comes out better when the student is shown
what to do. This is part of the learning process. Repetition, experience and
continued education will work towards making the student more independent
and more capable. This is our goal at KidsArt. Always feel free to discuss
any questions you may have about your child's work with the teachers and
the office.
